In the State of the Union address

    Obama said, “lets tax those who make more than a million a year the same as the middle class”.

    Well lets see……….. WE ARE!!! If someone gets paid a million a year they pay the same or more of a tax rate as the middle class. The earnings of most Billionaires is primarily from Capital Gains on investments like the stock market, capital investments and/or sales of Real Estate. This is what the president is suggesting the tax rate should be increased to 30%.

    You say ok to that! Well……………. Suppose you sell your home. The tax on the capital gain would be double of what it would have been and you may not be a million dollar per year earner. Suppose you decide its time to draw your retirement fund from your 401K, the tax is now double. Sell or transfer some of your stock and POOF it just cost you double.

    Raising the tax on the rich yields very little revenue for the government. A tax increase on capital gains would raise billions not from the rich, but from the middle class. People who worked and invested in their future by purchasing and paying for a home or buying stocks will pay the biggest portion of this increase.

    The long and sort of it.

    A Billionaire who pays perhaps $100,000 more in tax won’t notice it and this amount won’t help much. A person selling their home on the other hand would be hard hit to pay an extra $100,000 tax on the gain just because people are mad at the rich. Remember in todays economy most working people have some sort of an investment in Real Estate or Stocks that will be impacted by this proposal.

Out of sync

Logicly

    The new year should start at the next day after winter solstice. It in stead starts 10 days later. This would put all days of the calendar out of sync for when it is. Not to mention the calendar has only 12 months when in fact there are 13 months.
